He finally turned the corner on the whole separation anxiety phase. On Sunday night he woke up at 9:30 pm crying as usual- we both went in there and patted his tummy and whispered to him until he was lying calmly in his crib. After about 15 minutes we left, he cried, we let him cry for about 20 minutes and then went back in and did it again. This time when we left he cried a little bit- but not that screaming, desperate for us cry. After a little while, he fell asleep. He woke up around 1:30am, I went in and gave him his pacifier, patted his tummy, and walked out. He slept till 7!
Monday night he went right to sleep after fussing for a few minutes, then woke up once for his pacifier and slept till 6:45!
J has been in SUCH a good mood the past 2 days, and all because he's getting good sleep again! What a relief! And if he slips back into the whole thing again, we have our plan of how to handle it. Soothe him till he's calm, don't just let him cry endlessly and hope he gets over it.
